Sneaking out of the house before her parents woke up Jessica quietly closed the door behind her and headed to the barn where had boarded her horse the night before when they had arrived. She planned to ride out and explore before her father roped her into helping him with the horses. Not that she minded as she loved horses ever since she was a little girl. After college she had returned to work with her father. Pausing at the stable doors she heard a noise inside and peeked around the door frame. The morning sun light sparkled off the beads of sweat covering his very well-muscled torso. Jess watched as those muscles flexed as he pitched the hay bales over the edge to drop below. She took in the sight of his perfect backside snug in his jeans as he bent over to pick up another bale. He was the perfect example of why romance writers loved to write about cowboys. The falling hay tickled her nose and she couldn’t hold in a sneeze. “Bless you” nick called out without looking to see who it was. “Thank you” she said back and headed to get her horse ready. Nick didn’t recognise the female voice so he turned to see the woman from the bar walking along the stalls. He climbed down the ladder to greet her. “You must be Jessica” he began “its jess! She replied without looking at him afraid she would not be able to look him in the eyes just his tanned muscled body. “Jess. I’m nick it’s nice to meet you. Welcome to dark ranch” he wondered why he was talking to her back not that the view was not pleasing to look at but he wanted to look her in the eyes. “So he belongs to you. I wondered where he had come from” he stood by the open stall door and watched her put a bridal on the horse, she used a basic no bit bridal. “His name is Jovi” she said still not looking at him. She led jovi out of the stall and had to face him. Wow he was even better looking close up and he smelled amazing. In the brief second she lost herself in his deep brown eyes she caught herself and remembered who she was. She didn’t swoon and succumb to a man; she held her own and did what she wanted to do. Flashing him a smile she excused herself. “it’s a pleasure to meet you nick but I need to going before everyone wakes up” she walked past him and without putting a saddle on she hoisted herself up and on to jovi. “Bareback?” he commented and jess just looked him in the eyes and with a cheeky smile she told him “Of course it just feels better, more natural” then she rode out of the barn and down the road towards the hills.
Nick felt a stirring when she said his name, just the sound of her voice had him imagining his name on her lips in a cry of passion. He needed a cold shower badly.
Riding through the beautiful landscape jess felt free as the wind caressed her skin and played with her hair. She stopped by the creek to give jovi a rest and a drink of the cool water. The creek overlooked a valley on one side and the ranch on the other. It was peaceful. Laying in the grass jess allowed herself to think about him to let her thoughts linger on his body and the way he looked at her. She had always had a good imagination but thinking of what she wanted to do to nick was testing her inner strength and now she needed to cool down. Stripping off her clothes she waded into the creek and sank beneath the cool fresh water.
