After getting a good night’s sleep jack met the others down stairs and the loaded up with supplies
and re fuelled the jeep. Pamela had picked up a few things for molly to play with in the car like a
colouring book and some games. She had also collected some first aid kits. The mist had stayed back for the night and now was pushing them forwards again, confirming jacks thoughts that it was some kind of life form. The next big place they would reach would be Miami and that would be the end of the road when they reached the beach. Jack had thought about this but didn’t express it to the others. Molly still hadn’t spoken a word she sat in silence colouring in a purple cartoon elephant with a green top hat. Martin and Pamela were engrossed in a discussion about some of his other conspiracy theories. Jack had put on a CD that he had picked up in the gift shop and was not paying attention to the song that was on. He was too busy thinking of what was coming. He knew something big was ahead of them but not sure what it would be. His mind wondered but he knew he could not predict what was to happen. They past a few crashed planes and some trains most of the fires were out by now but a couple of small flames still burned away. Jack couldn’t help but think it was probably best that the mist took them so quick so that they didn’t feel the pain of crashing to their death. Pamela passed out some food for them all and they ate their meal whilst they drove. They had not seen no animals or anyone else for days now. No birds flew in the sky they didn’t even see any fish swimming in the clear river as they passed. Jack was getting the feeling they were now totally alone with this thing whatever it was. Martin had thought they would run into the military at some point but he was disappointed when he
saw military vehicles crashed and abandoned in the streets along with the rest of the vehicles. His hopes of a rescue were diminishing every hour they passed yet more emptiness.
